If a player dies, all of their weapons are lost and they receive the spawn weapons for the current map, which are relatively low powered. Weapons appear as pickups, spawning at regular intervals in set locations on the map. The weapons are balanced by role, with each weapon having advantages in certain situations, such as the Bolt Rifle at long-range and Rocket Launcher at close quarters. Notable features of Reflex Arena include an in-game map and replay editor, customization of player cosmetics, rendering settings, and a movement system that allows for stair-jumping, double-jumping, strafe-jumping, air control, and rocket-jumping.

Most people into these types of games don't play for nice visuals, they're there for the traditional fast-paced FPS gameplay and are just as fine playing something from over a decade ago even if the graphics are dated.īy the way, in-game map editing is not impossible or as difficult as some people here believe. And there are dozens of free Quake 3 clones out there (ie. Quake 3 still runs perfectly fine on my computer and there are still hundreds of servers online for it. I would like to know more about what big advantage it will have over existing offerings though. The concept art of the maps looks impressive, hopefully the actual finished maps reflect that.
